STATEMENT:

The following interprets the entire System Integrity requirement.

If the features provided by the vendor to meet this requirement cannot be exercised by the purchaser of the product, the vendor shall make available appropriate services to use the features as needed to meet the requirement. These services shall be available on an ``on-demand'' basis.

PROJECTED IMPACT:

Negligible impact anticipated.

SUPPORT:

Although desirable, it is not necessary for the validation mechanisms for hardware/firmware features to be directly accessible to the end-user. For example, the diagnostics may be designed for use of engineers who are experts on the product's hardware implementation, and it may be desirable, for the protection of proprietary information about the hardware design, to reserve those diagnostics to vendor personnel.

It is desirable, but not required, that at least some diagnostics be usable during normal product operation, and that diagnostics be performed automatically during initial system startup.
