About The NIB

The NIAP Interpretations Board is chartered by CCEVS to determine when national interpretations of the CC and CEM are required, to develop those interpretations, and to transmit those interpretations for consideration by the international CCIMB.

The NIB meets periodically (about every six weeks) and performs the following functions:

  1. The NIB reviews all issues forwarded to it by the Observation Decision Review Board, and determines when those issues are appropriate to develop into interpretations.
  2. The NIB reviews all discussions on the cc-cmt mailing list to identify issues appropriate to develop into interpretations, and to provide senior-level advice to the computer security community.
  3. The NIB develops National Interpretations and runs them through a formalized process of public review before obtaining concurrent from CCEVS management, and forwarding the Interpretation to the CCIMB.
  4. The NIB reviewed proposed international interpretations and provides comments and suggestions.
