Issue Description

FDP_SPR_EXT.1/DP in the Video/Display Module requires several sub-protocols to be blocked by the TSF, one of which is CEC. The corresponding testing for this in the Supporting Document, which happens to be Test 3 - Unauthorized Sub-protocols under FDP_APC_EXT.1, says the following:

Step 10: Replace the computer with a source generator for each selected protocol at the computer video interface. If DVI-I or DVI-D is selected, use an HDMI source generator.

Step 11: Run an EDID write transaction at the generator and verify in the testing device that no EDID traffic is captured.

Step 12: [Conditional, if DisplayPort, DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI, or USB Type-C is the selected protocol being tested at the computer video interface, then] run Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) tests or commands at the generator and verify in the testing device that no CEC or HDCP traffic is captured.

Some research has uncovered that  the capability to generate CEC signals natively within DisplayPort does not exist. The DP protocol does support the generation of AUX signals that can be interpreted by certain DP-to-HDMI adapters as CEC, but these are DPCD transactions, which are the same as what is used by HDCP and not a distinct form of communications within the AUX channel. Based on this, step 12 is fully covered by the HDCP portion of the step.

Also, in DisplayPort Dual Mode (DP++), an HDMI signal transmitted over a physical DP interface may transmit CEC over pin 14 (CONFIG2). It appears that showing the absence of power to this pin on the TOE demonstrates that a CEC signal will not be transmitted in this particular case.

Resolution

In Section 2.2.1.1 of the MOD_VI_V1.0 SD, Step 12 under FDP_APC_EXT.1 Test 3-VI - Unauthorized Sub-protocols is modified as follows, with strikethoughs denoting deletions and underlines denoting additions:

Step 12: [Conditional, if DisplayPort (DP++ - Dual Mode Only), DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI, or USB Type-C is the selected protocol being

tested at the computer video interface, then] run Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and High-bandwidth

Digital Content Protection (HDCP) tests or commands at the generator and verify in the testing device that no CEC or HDCP traffic is captured for HDMI or USB-C, or check for an absence of power on pin 14 (CONFIG2) using an oscilloscope for DisplayPort DP++ Dual Mode.
